2024 in Review Started off the spring with a special fundraiser dinner. I appreciate all the River Region Pregnancy Center does for the community and it was an honor to play in the foyer as guests arrived and went through the buffet line for dinner. I don't often have the opportunity to play songs like I'm a Little Teapot, The Itsy Bitsy Spider and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star! My furthest event this year was a beautiful outside wedding in Dothan, Alabama. The bride and groom were guests at a wedding I played for in December 2023 and knew they wanted me to play for their wedding! They booked immediately and I was so thankful I had the date available for their special day. My student recital is always a highlight of my year! I love watching them learn and grow in the musical abilities and then hear them perform their pieces for family and friends. The River Region Harp Ensemble met in September to organize music and begin practicing for the annual Christmas concert in December. I am beyond blessed to play with such amazing ladies and perform together for the community. I sometimes play for wedding ceremonies and sometimes play for cocktail hours or a reception. This particular bride asked me to play for the wedding ceremony and move upstairs to the reception. It turned out to be a beautiful day and it always makes me happy when people are excited to hear a harp in person for the first time!
My students were able to perform at The Harbor at Hickory Hill again this year for Christmas. This year all but two were able to make it and my four year old daughter performed, as well. Earlier this year one of my harp students provided entertainment along with her daughter who played piano and cello at The Harbor at Hickory Hill. I am thankful for the opportunity to return to the same location for performances and get to know the residents a little bit through the years. I had a pretty full schedule in December but was thankful to be available for the York Rite Mongtomery Chapter #22's Christmas dinner. From the feedback I received the music provided the the ambiance they were looking for and was enjoyed by all. I concluded the year's events with the River Region Harp Ensemble's second annual Christmas concert. We had 196 people in attandance and we are thankful for each one! Plans for the 2025 concert are in the making, so stay tuned for details.
