Day 7 - How I Met My Harp
Before I purchased my harp, I spent a lot of time researching sizes, styles, and prices. At one point, I even considered buying a Paraguayan harp while I was in Paraguay—but my teacher in São Paulo advised against it since it’s quite different from the style I was learning. She recommended I look into Lyon & Healy or Salvi instead. After visiting Lyon & Healy in Chicago, doing more research, and eventually moving to the States, I decided on the Prelude—the ebony one, to be exact. One of the reasons I chose it was their five-year trade-in option. I wasn’t sure if I’d eventually move to a pedal harp and wanted to keep that door open. Well… that five-year window has long passed, and I still have my Prelude. It arrived on a Friday afternoon—April 13, 2007. Which means this next week we’ll celebrate 19 years together. Any ideas on how we should celebrate 20 next year?
