Day 15 - Work in Progress - #harpril
I seem to always have a few projects going… One long-term project is organizing my music. I haven’t made the jump to digital, so I have hundreds of songs in binders. Before each gig, I update one binder with what I’ll need—which works… but I know there’s probably a better system out there. Another project I’ve been thinking about is finding places locally where harpists could set up and play for tips (busking). I did this years ago in Chattanooga with an organization, and it helped me so much—learning to play through distractions, building repertoire, and just getting more comfortable performing. I’d love to see something like that here. With my students, I’m working on putting together a simple “what to bring to a performance” list. I have a couple of newer harp students playing in our spring recital, and I want to make that part easy and stress-free for them. Musically, I’ve also had a few requests for more classical pieces lately, so that’s been a focus in my practice time. And of course… showing up each day for these #harpril posts has been a bit of a project too. Looking back through old photos has brought up so many memories—it’s made me want to go back and share more stories from past events. So yes… a lot in progress over here. But all good things.
