Bethany (Bennett) Murphy was born in São Paulo, Brazil and moved to the Chattanooga area in 2007.

​When Bethany was 9 years old, she began taking piano lessons. At the age of 17, she began taking private lessons in both harp and piano from Delcia Coelho, former member of the symphonic orchestra in São Paulo.
​
After moving to the Chattanooga area, Bethany purchased the Lyon & Healy Prelude harp and began taking lessons from Laura Goldstein, graduate of Ball State University in Indiana and professional harpist.

Bethany has been teaching both piano and harp lessons for over 20 years. She is a former member of the Chattanooga Harp Ensemble and current director of the River Region Harp Ensemble. She plays for weddings and events in Alabama. ​

Bethany moved to Prattville, Alabama in 2018 and is married to her wonderfully supportive husband, Chris, and together they have two adorable children.
